On 18 December, at the close of a stunning final held in Qatar’s Lusail Stadium, Argentina beat France to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Some 89,000 spectators were on the spot and an over billion-strong audience was glued to screens around the world. The eagerly awaited 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup was hosted across eight stadiums during an unprecedented winter schedule that kicked off on 20 November and finished on 18 December, Qatar’s national day.
Following the successes of previous partnerships in South Africa, Brazil, and Russia, Hublot was appointed Official Timekeeper of this sporting event for the fourth consecutive year. The 32 qualifying teams faced off in 64 matches under the watchful eyes of 129 official referees, who took to the field wearing the new Hublot Big Bang e FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the result of six years of technological development in close collaboration with the referees.
